| Kim B. Clark Kim B. Clark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in the Salt Lake and Spokane, Washington. As a youth he worked the pea fields and drove truck in the nearby Walla Walla valley. He arrived at Harvard at 18 and studied for a year before leaving to serve a mission in southern Germany in 1968. After his mission, he studied a year at BYU-Provo. It was there he met wife, Sue Hunt from Waterflow, NM. They were married in 1971. The Clarks returned to the Boston area, where President Clark continued his studies of economics at Harvard, completing his bachelor's degree in 1974, his master's degree in 1977, and his doctorate in 1978. He began teaching at the Harvard Business School in 1978. He was Dean of Harvard Business School for ten years, beginning in 1995, and was also the George F. Baker professor of Administration. While working at Harvard, his area of emphasis was business expertise in manufacturing. He encouraged the use of technology to broaden and deepen learning experience, and implemented a web-based curriculum that expanded classroom instruction worldwide. He established research centers in Europe, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Latin America, India, and California. He has published several books on technology, competition, productivity, and product development. He has also served on the board of directors for Black & Decker and JetBlue Airways. In the Church, President Clark has served as bishop, elders' quorum president, stake high councilor, and Scoutmaster. He is an avid golfer, jogger, and coaches youth basketball. |
Sue Clark Sue Hunt Clark was born and raised on a small farm just outside Waterflow, New Mexico. This small farming community is located on the San Juan River, about 15 miles west of Farmington in the Four Corners area. She attended BYU in Provo for four years. It was at BYU that she met President Clark. They were married in 1971. Soon after, they moved to the Boston area. President and Sister Clark raised their family of four sons and three daughters in the Boston area. They are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. |
