Computers[ Back to top ] More than 400 computers are available in the library for use by students and other patrons. They are grouped together in various places on each floor of the library with the largest group being on the third floor. There are two types of computers, research and reference. The research computers provide access to word processors, library research databases, multimedia presentation software, and campus e-mail accounts (but not non-campus e-mail accounts). The reference computers have special databases, online reference resources, and the library catalog. The reference computers do not provide access to word processors or e-mail accounts. Please see the library policies regarding Computer Use and Internet Use. For assistance with computer problems and additional information, contact the Help Desk in MCK 306 (ext. 2360). Copy Spot[ Back to top ] The Copy Spot, or Copy Center, is located at the north entrance of the library. It is a branch of the University Press and can do extensice copy jobs, page collation, and binding on a variety of different papers. Other services include color photocopies, T-shirt transfers, and sending/receiving faxes. The regular hours for the Copy Spot are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. For more information call ext. 2384. Family History Center[ Back to top ] Sources for family history and genealogical research, using the latest computer materials, can be found in the Family History Center. Expert genealogists are available to help patrons. The lab is open during regular library hours, as well as 3:00-7:00 p.m. on most Sundays during the regular school year. For more information call ext. 2377 or view the Family History Center website. Group Study Rooms[ Back to top ] 11 group study rooms are available on the 2nd floor of the library. These study rooms are available for groups of three or more students and can be reserved for two-hour blocks. Sign-up sheets are located just outside the door of each study room. Dry-erase markers and erasers can be checked out for two hours from the Reserve Desk. Instructional
Technology Center The ITC is a multimedia resource center for faculty and staff. Resources include regular desktop applications plus audio, visual, and graphics services. TechSmart training classes are offered for faculty and staff. For more information, visit the ITC website or call ext. 1200. Interlibrary Loan Materials not available in the McKay Library may be requested from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. There is little or no cost for this service. For more information, or to submit a request, view the Interlibrary Loan page. Learning Assistance[ Back to top ] This includes the Reading Center, Writing Center, Math Center, Study Skills Center, Tutoring Center, English as a Second Language, and Office for Students with a Disability. Students may sign up for tutors or find help with writing, reading, study skills, and math. The reception desk for this area is located at the north end of the second floor in the east wing. Media Lab[ Back to top ] The Media Lab has equipement for creating visual aids of all types: posters, signs, banners, die-cut letters and figures, dry-mount photographs, mats for artwork, and laminating, etc. For more information view the Media Lab website. Media Services[ Back to top ] Media equipment and videos can be scheduled here, along with off-air and satellite taping. A video viewing area is also available for individuals and groups. The video collection can be searched from the online library catalog. Video editing services are available for academic purposes. Reference[ Back to top ] Professional librarians as well as student assistants are available to answer questions and assist patrons at the reference desks on the first floor during regular library hours. For assistance please call ext. 2367. Many online reference sources are also available. Reserve[ Back to top ] Reserve items are materials (books, articles, cassettes and/or CD's) teachers want available for students in their classes to read or listen to. They are available at the reserve desk, which is part of the main circulation desk on the first floor. Reserve items can be checked out for two hours. There is also an Electronic Reserve online. For more information call ext. 2355. Student Technology Center (STC)[ Back to top ] This student use area contains computer stations and equipment for scanning documents and photgraphs. There is also a digital camera and color laser printer available. For more information call ext. 2163. Technical Services[ Back to top ] Library materials are ordered and cataloged in this area for use by
